Aidric had his first bite of solid food yesterday, baby cereal. He did such a good job, only getting about half of it on himself. :) We got the whole thing on tape. It was so cute how he'd take a bite, give us the I'm-not-sure face, and then look up at us with the sweetest smile I've ever seen. I just can't believe my little baby is getting so big. Now I know what my friend, Joni, meant when she said you will always think your child is the cutest child ever.
I started working last week after the problem with my router. I finally figured it out after so many unnecessary tech support calls in which all the people were foreign so I couldnt understand them and they took so much longer than they needed to and then they couldnt help me anyways. One guy figured it out that my internet connection was too slow...sure enough he was right. I just never thought cable would ever be too slow. Anyways, I love my job. I feel really lucky to be able to say that because how many people my age honestly can?
Yesterday, it was unusually warm for December in Alaska, 42 degrees. That was no jacket weather! I cant get too attached though, it wont stay like that. Next week will probably be 50 below like it was last winter over Christmas.
As for John's med board, its happening earlier than we were previously told, next week. We will be out of here much sooner now. Im not sure I like that, I wanted to stay here in our free house getting a paid and saving money for as long as possible. Oh well though, I'm excited to see my friends and family again. We're thinking of partially moving ourselves because they will pay us by the pound. Some guy when he was moving even bought a bunch of cheap weights from the thrift store and they paid him to move them. Once he was out of town, he chucked them. Gotta get the Army for every cent we can! Heehee.
I dyed my hair last week. It is now a lovely shade of coppery orange, the color I always had somewhat in my hair and always wanted. I really like it. I may just keep dying it now.

Yesterday John, Aidric, and I went to the Coven's Yule dinner at the Cafe Alex. That was a fun time. I got to meet coven members I havent met before which was nice and the food and atmosphere was awesome. We had a cheese ball with pepper jelly, praline baked brie, vegetable potstickers, and garlicky escargot and mushrooms for appetizers. John could not figure out for the life of him what the green was in the salad. It was dandelion leaves and it had bleu cheese on top...MMMM! For the entree, I had the macadamia crusted halibut with curry sauce and John had the angus steak with a chili coffee rub. He didnt like the rub but I did. Kathy and Charles are friends with Alex, the owner, so we got to try some of her truffles from a catering she was doing the next day. And for desert, I had the eggnog creme brulee and John had the peanut butter pie. It was hard to decide between the creme brulee and the peppermint mousse! It was all sooooooo good and Kathy and Charles took care of everything! They are such sweet people and I really feel like I belong with them. I'm going to be sad when we leave in about four months which I havent written about yet....
John is not going back to Iraq now. He needed help with some issues and went in to the mental health clinic in town. He ended up in the hospital for a while and now the Army doesnt want him. We both are pretty happy about going home soon but like I said, I'll be sad to leave my friends I've made here. Hopefully I can find a coven back in North Dakota. That will be a toughy.

- Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big or even completely unrealistic. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
- Surf around your friendslist to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
-You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
-There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Heres my awesome swap from thoughtskill
! I really loved everything I received. She went with a native american theme because she said their spirituality has many similarities with the way she practices Wicca, being in tune with nature. It is a wonderful swap. Thanks so much! ( PicturesCollapse )

I pick John up today at the airport at 4:15. I'm so excited and the time is going by so slow! Aidrics asleep right now and Im just watching TV bored out of my mind. I guess I could do some laundry...blech. I wish I could work on the art doll I started yesterday but of course while shopping yesterday for all my materials, I forgot beading needles. Grrr... I always end up forgetting something. I would just run out quick and get them but I hate dragging aidric out of the house just for that. I have to get groceries anyways...

You know your really fitting the part of housewife when you're lying in bed with the TV on thinking about sex and what you're going to do to your husband when he gets back after being gone for 3 months and a disposable toilet brush commercial distracts you...
My internal dialogue went something like this:
Then I'll... Oooooh... that toilet brush has a really neat shape. I bet it works to get up around the top of the bowl. That would be great, that area always gets so gross and is hard to get to....

I started doing my yoga routine yesterday. Its amazing how doing what seems like so little makes such a difference. Its also amazing how much flexibility Ive lost since high school and dance. Hopefully by doing this yoga and some stretching I'll gain that back. I am going to try my hardest to actually keep up with this exercise routine. Everyone of my past attempts has failed to be consistent.
John called yesterday and said he had not left yet but was waiting for a flight. He was not going on any missions because he could leave anytime. Thats looking up; we at least know now that they are not just trying to fuck him over like they have done so many times in the past. I havent heard from him today yet.
We finished my curtains yesterday and they turned out really nice. When I went to hang them though, I remembered I dont have a drill so I'll have to go get one.
It snowing tonight. Thats good news; it must have warmed up some.

Today I went to the post office to send my swap box to thoughtskill
. I feel very accomplished because I actually got something done before the deadline. Anyways, on the way to the post office I noticed people staring at me as I was driving. Hmmm... I get there, go in, and send my packages with some difficulty with holding aidric and writing addresses at the same time. When I came out I realized why I was being stared at...I forgot to unplug my car when I left and my bright blue extension cord had been dragging the whole time! Of course it was just a matter of time before forgetful me would do that.
Today I start working on my curtains for my bedroom. Uggh, this is going to be interesting. I havent sewn for like 6-7 years... Home Ec. They better turn out or I will cry because I spent $19 a yard on the black suede fabric! Maybe Ill post a picture if they do.
John is supposedly leaving tomorrow to come home. I cant wait! Its only been like 3 months since he left but it feels a lot longer.

Just got home a week ago. Aidric did so well on the plane. He only really cried once, on the 5 1/2 hour flight. It was a looooong day though; 13 hours all together.
Ive had a pretty crappy week. First I had left my parking lights on in my car which I have no idea how I even turned on because I didnt try. I didnt realize it until that night so my battery was dead. I got a friend to jump me but since its pretty cold already here, the battery ran down overnight again. Now I have to get it jumped again and get the battery replaced. Uggghh.
Then the other day I got ambitious and decided to cook the butternut squash soup recipe I have. It was hard to make and when I tried it, it was HORRIBLE. Not just Oh I dont really like this...I could not eat it, it was so disgusting. So of course, I was all upset over that.
The only real good thing is that John comes home in probably about 2 weeks. Oh and that I am participating in my first swap for Full Moon Swaps. I cant wait!
